Art inside Vivário
Every single piece of art inside my restaurant was produced by me, from signs to posters, from menus to hanging plant arrangements.
Expressing through art has being with me since a child and I make sure running a business allows me to carry art expression with me.

Original Azulejo Tile
I have designed a tile that looks Portuguese from far away but brings Japanese details , especially those of the times Portuguese influence starts, the Kamon family crests are those of the families whom members helped Cristões 400 years ago.

Using old boards and old signs owned by the previous establishment I created new ones to bring that unique Portuguese petisqueira flavor to the restaurant. Using laser printing techniques I built the shop’s main sign and the menus, along name tags and the dessert boards.
In order for the restaurant to bring you a sense of coziness I re-painted the interior to make the color palette more receptive to the light and warm at all seasons, using bold dark colors to line where space limitations are and causing a balance between free space and barriers.
At night images of Portugal are projected into the walls and the effect of the color barriers becomes more evident.

To bring imagery from Portugal I have painted imagery in wood boards and poetry to decorate the walls, let me explain the culture behind these pieces.
Depiction of a dance from North of Portugal called Vira do Minho.
It is now at display inside the restaurant facing outside so people passing by can take a look on their festive steps.

3 authors can be found inside, Espanca, Pessoa and Camões.Sometines in clear view, sometimes hidden very cleverly, here are the main pieces:
A MULHER II
Ó mulher! Como és fraca e como és forte!
Como sabes ser doce e desgraçada!
Como sabes fingir quando em teu peito
A tua alma se estorce amargurada!
Quantas morrem saudosas duma imagem
Adorada que amaram doidamente!
Quantas e quantas almas endoidecem
Enquanto a boca ri alegremente!
Alberto Caeiro, in "Poemas Inconjuntos"
Heterónimo de Fernando Pessoa

Amor é um fogo que arde sem se ver;
É ferida que dói, e não se sente;
É um contentamento descontente;
É dor que desatina sem doer.
É um não querer mais que bem querer;
É um andar solitário entre a gente;
É nunca contentar-se e contente;
É um cuidar que ganha em se perder;
É querer estar preso por vontade;
É servir a quem vence, o vencedor;
É ter com quem nos mata, lealdade.
Mas como causar pode seu favor
Nos corações humanos amizade,
Se tão contrário a si é o mesmo Amor?
Luís Vaz de Camões, in "Sonetos"
